About this deal

Mesh pouch on the front is useful for any item that you'd like to isolate from the inner, dryer items. It isn't zippered or attached with a velcro, so you're left with relying on the force of mesh compression to keep the items in their place. Something else to think about regarding the price difference....the Talon 44 doesn't come with a raincover whereas the Kestrel 48 has an inbuilt one, so if you get the Talon you may need to buy one. Osprey Kestrel 48comes with 2 size options. The difference is in their height, therefore smaller size with shorter height offers 2 liters less volume at 46 Liters.

Distinctive side zipper that opens to main compartment makes accessing the items in the middle very easy. In short, Kestrel 48 would be a great match for weekend hiking & camping trips, although I'd also consider getting Stratos 50 [ read my review ]. Instead, you simply pass the poles through two elasticated loops for a hands-free solution. There is even an ice axe loop that may prove useful in winter conditions.Wide mouth access sleeping bag compartment is very large and separated from main compartment with a removable divider. With the 2019 model they updated the materials used in this pouch, and now nylon is also used besides mesh & the pouch is adjustable with compression straps! You can also use the straps to have the pouch apply more force.

MUST READ: Osprey Kestrel 48 Review • Honest Review for 2023

If you actually read all of this, then I think you owe yourself a little treat. How about an Osprey Kestrel 48? Aiden’s favourite countries include India, Spain, Lebanon along with 195 others. His biggest travel achievements include pushing a shitty tuk-tuk into the Himalayas, leading a group trip to Pakistan and surviving many near death experiences. You also get sleeping pad straps at the base of the Kestrel 48 that, as the name suggest, are really useful for attaching bulky sleep mats, or they can be completely removed to reduce weight if not required. An adjustable sternum strap helps to equalize the load and features a built-in emergency whistle.Osprey’s hydration system is pretty well designed – you will get a few magnets that you attach to the shoulder straps, which allow for completely hands-free hydration. And since the hydration sleeve is an external one, you don’t have to worry about it leaking inside the main compartment and over your clothes. However, the Osprey Kestrel does have several competitors even within the Osprey brand ( a bit of sibling rivalry never hurt anybody, said Cain to Abel…). If you often go on overnight hiking trips, then you’ll love this feature. The sleeping bag compartment is at the very bottom of the bag and it’s pretty spacious– so much so that you can easily stuff a few other items inside it, apart from just the bag.

But what guarantees that your things will be extra safe is that the zipper is cleverly hidden. I bet you didn’t even notice it at first glance! You might have been wondering whether the Kestrel 38 might be a better fit for you than the Kestral 48, but that are the differences, let’s take a look! The Differences If truth be told, you can’t put a price on Osprey quality or comfort… Does the Osprey Kestrel 48 Come with a Rain Cover?
