I was excited to read this as I have enjoyed many Morpurgo books and I love Christmas picture books. I didn't see the point of this being a Christmas book, a family sit in front of a Christmas tree in their large house and say that each year they read a letter from Grandad. The letter talks about how the Grandad loves his Granddaughter and how we are destroying the planet and how he hopes that will change. At the end the family wish happy Christmas to Grandad, presumably he isn't alive anymore.
