And I will confess it now to my fellow Guardians: this is the first time I've actually read the lore. Yes, I know. But reading off a screen is not for me and having to find each individual pieces is also not for me. I am a completionist but only if there's a little ping at the end. But it is wonderful. Written really well: not in a novel style-of course not-but written in digestible chunks that give you so much information yet leave you hanging. These little gardeners are such careful stewards of fragility. They sing songs of disasters averted and loved one lost. They fashion heavy elements combed from the bones of old stars into objects of peace and beauty. But in those shattered remains, new gardens grow, sown across the blood and stories great wars were fought to destroy.
So, as usual, amazing art and a well-curated collection. "The Man They Call Cayde" is the strongest bit in this one, but imo it's one of the best-written lorebooks in the game. The name Bray has never been uttered by the pantheon of architects. You are Unknown. Over time, worlds will be born. Species will bloom and burst and pollinate foreign fields with their influence. And you will be dysphoric because your briefness was interrupted by vicissitude. They will not mourn for you. You will go quietly, like a stone sinking in water. Your ripple-small and ineffective. I also impugn that natural law only accounts for what we know of the universe. Powers exist out there beyond our "natural" realm. Sentient beings control the scales of fate. They think they also have the means to control us but forget that gods are self-made. The Brays will be in the pantheon of the gods. The universe will bend to OUR will. There is no reason for our light to fade into nothingness. We can endure. We can become timeless.
The series began in 2018, with its first volume, Dark Mirror, being officially announced on July 26 th. This first volume could come to entail subjects involving some of the darker moments within the Destiny universe, such as the formation of the Hive as told through the Books of Sorrow, as well as the legendary conflict between Shin Malphur and Dredgen Yor. It released on November 28, 2018, and would begin a line of annual releases within the series.
A Dreg watched his people die in piles of red, blue, and green. The last of the Eliksni were scraps of cloth alight in bright tongues of flame. This is an approximation of what was said, recounted from memory and edited for clarity. The glossator is imperfect.) Up close, the Saint was a freakish thing, its grace belied in size. It hurtled forward with the armor of a Walker and the speed of an Arc bolt.Destiny Grimoire Anthology, Volume V: Legions Adrift is a curated look at the history of one of humanity’s greatest enemies, and now perhaps, potential allies: the Cabal. These stories follow an ancient empire through a time of great change—from the hedonism of Emperor Calus to the ambition of Dominus Ghaul to the vision of Empress Caiatl. What does it mean to be Cabal—to eat the mountains and drink the seas? And with their homeworld lost, what will the Cabal become? I keep watch on through the Cabal battlenet. He had continued to lead many successful campaigns against my people.
As a collection, I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the books, and congratulations to Titan Books for treating the source material so sensitively. This was a fascinating read but only as someone who is already relatively well-versed in some of the lore of the Destiny universe; this wouldn’t make any sense or be enjoyable to someone who has never played the games.
Your Shank came in here with you. It is hidden now, but I saw it. It is the key to your Light, is it not? There are enough explosives under us to tear a Walker apart."
